The 2006 ZO6™ is heir to the incredible racing tradition begun by the C5-R, author of the most successful winning streak in Corvette® history. Now, you can unleash the awesome power of this legendary Vette® in your collection. We've re-created every detail of the ZO6™ in a model that simply demands attention. The forward-facing grille opening, and side-mounted splitters, the fully appointed interior featuring a sporty three-spoke steering wheel, and, of course, the flawless re-creation of the formidable LS7, 7.0 litre V-8 engine, the largest displacement small block ever from GM®. Assembled by hand and packed with realistic working features, this model is hand-painted in Daytona Sunset Metallic (orange). It's all here in the essential acquisition for the Corvette® and sports-car enthusiast.
There's no doubt that advancements in automotive technology have been driven in large part by breakthroughs brought about by experimentation with racing cars. All aspects of engineering, from engines, chassis and brakes, to safety gear, have all reached their present state-of-the-art technology from lessons learned on the track. High-performance cars, not surprisingly, received the lion's share of this expertise and the Corvette® benefited from these discoveries since its inception in 1953.
The engineering excellence of the 2006 Corvette® Z06TM is a direct result of racing victories of the Corvette® C5-R that won every race in the 2004 season--the most successful string of wins in the 50-year racing history of Corvette®. In 2006, the new Z06TM achieved 505 horsepower and delivered a 0-60 time of less than 4 seconds. Responsible for this was the all-new LS7 engine with the largest displacement small block ever produced by GM®. Inside, the lightweight components, including titanium, assist in getting the power to the pavement without adding excessive weight. The body, too, has a unique aluminium structure for optimum rigidity and light weight for the fixed roof style. A wide front with forward-facing grill opening and splitter along the sides provides aerodynamic down-force. In fact, the aerodynamics of the Z06’s shape was specifically derived from the CR-5 racing program. In the cockpit, the gauge cluster displays the Z06TM logo and the new three-spoke steering wheel has a smaller diameter, providing better handling and "road feel."
Now, this ultra high-performance icon has been faithfully reproduced as a die-cast model with every detail intact. The 2006 Corvette® Z06TM would be the flagship in any serious Corvette® enthusiast's model collection.
