For many, the 290hp rating for the '69 Camaro® was, at best, an understatement. Something to the tune of 400hp seemed closer to the truth. And for those who could handle the truth, few rides produced as much street-legal power. Now, "The Truth" returns in this sensational precision model engineered with bumper-to-bumper accuracy.
In 1968, the Chevy Camaro® dominated the Trans-Am series, winning no less than 10 of the 13 events in which it was entered: an impressive record, to be sure, but also one that hints at the driving philosophy that guided the production of the first generation Camaro—that of a competitive road racer. The Camaro boasted the Z/28® special performance package specifically designed to provide enough legal factory equipment for amateur racers craving muscle while at the same time maintaining a more-than-formidable presence on the Trans-Am circuit.
Hot off its record year of '68, the Camaro underwent minor cosmetic changes for production year 1969, including louvered headlights and a restyled V-shaped "egg-crate" grille with the Z/28® emblem offset toward the driver's side. Once again, the engine was rated 290hp. Many claimed the rating misleading, placing actual hp closer to 400! To this day, the discrepancy remains a point of contention. But one thing is certain...the Z28® packed enough punch to consume the quarter mile in less than 15 seconds.
Now, this automotive icon of the Sixties is yours in a 1:24 scale model as awesome as the original. From the impressive power plant under the hood to the classic striped detailing and Hugger Orange paint scheme, your 1969 Chevrolet® Camaro Z/28® RS Limited Edition is a precision-engineered classic that will be admired for years to come.
